Design and Construct Contract for Cooper Basin Operations

This oil project by Santos is a campaign of drilling and bringing on stream over 150 oil wells and water injection wells throughout the Cooper Basin. WDS' contract includes the installation of gathering systems, flow lines, high pressure water injection flow lines, beam pumps, progressive cavity pumps, electric pumps, instrumentation and electrical installation and the construction of water pumping facilities and other surface facilities.

WDS set up a separate, new camp to accommodate 40 people and at the peak of the project had over 160 people working in a number of locations on different aspects of the project. The work schedule had to be very flexible in order to respond to changes arising from the variable nature of drill results. This often entailed having to move crews from site to site at short notice to bring on stream the successful wells whilst maintaining our high safety standards and productivity . The complexity of the project was increased by having to work across the state boundary on a daily basis and applying the different systems that this entailed.
