Position Overview

1. Performing and reviewing engineering studies and verification of design works.

2. Carrying responsibilities for the project's success and demonstrating a strong direction for the team.

3. Meeting the project's goal as you complete the deliverables per schedule and budget.

4. Ensuring effective communications with other engineering disciplines, project management and client teams.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Participating in various stages of studies, electrical design, construction, testing and commissioning execution.

  2. Maintaining an appropriate audit and advisory service related to all aspects of electrical standards and infrastructure.

  3. Assisting in managing HSEQ aspects of the premises and personnel.

  4. Assisting in contributing to the effectiveness and performance improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS).

  5. Delivering innovative, technically sound, cost-effective and safe engineering solutions for electrical infrastructure.

  6. Establishing procedures for electrical design input (ensure requirements comply with previous studies, design criteria, vendor catalogue, relevant Client, Company, Australian and International Standards, Codes and Legislative Requirements, and information from other teams, sub-contractor or Client).

  7. Reviewing and approving HV submission reports, including power system modelling (DigSILENT or ETAP), protection settings, earthing study and arc flash assessment.

  8. Participating in testing/commissioning documentation, configuring protection relay setting files, test plans and creating detailed technical reports with suitable recommendations on completion of works.

  9. Taking the lead and collaborating with team members to deliver high-level technical design, audit & advisory service related to all aspects of project standards and infrastructure.

  10. Routine site visits and involvement throughout the project's life cycle phases (construction and commissioning).

What you'll bring to the team (ideally):

  1. Electrical Engineering Degree-qualified.

  2. Minimum five years of working experience, preferably in the resources and energy sectors.

  3. HV switchgear commissioning experience and expertise.

  4. Knowledge of Australian Standards.

  5. CPEng registration, or actively working towards obtaining chartered status.

Experience & Skills:

  1. Highly proficient in performing power system studies and design using DigSilent PowerFactory and ETAP, or willingness to learn.

  2. Engineering leadership skills with the ability to handle complex projects.

  3. Experience dealing with Commercial Contracts and Project Delivery is a bonus.

  4. Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines with well-developed organisational skills.

  5. Team-oriented communication and problem-solving skills.

  6. Attentive and responsive to team members' priorities and other teams (internal or external).

  7. High level of attention to detail, accuracy and completeness.

Job Type:

Full-time, with the flexibility to work FIFO regularly.
