A Year of Projects

Last year we had the opportunity to deliver engineering solutions that surpassed our client's expectations. Our dedicated team showcased innovation, precision and efficiency. This recap highlights our technical expertise, adaptive problem-solving and commitment to excellence, solidifying our position as a trusted engineering partner. We would like to highlight some of our key projects with you:

EV Charging Design and Compliance for Bus Depot

Our team supported the Karrinyup Bus Depot project by delivering comprehensive electrical design, HV submission support and technical review services. Our team ensured safe, compliant and sustainable charging infrastructure for the depot’s electric bus

operations.

Our key deliverables included:

  • DC system cable sizing and routing for charging satellites

  • LV switchboard design and cable calculations

  • HV submission preparation, vendor drawing review and NER sign-off

  • Identification of hardware technical specifications required for the project

  • Development of preliminary settings for Western Power compliance

  • Single Line Diagram (SLD) development

  • Identification of hardware requirements suitable for procurement

  • Technical assessment and feedback on vendor product specifications

  • Verification of suitability for equipment such as protection relays (e.g., P5) and metering systems (PM8000)

  • Review of awarded kiosk GA drawings including switch gear arrangement and bunding design compliance

  • Verification that the awarded transformer met design specifications

SF6 Leak Testing and Repairs

Our team conducted on-site investigation and maintenance work to support high-voltage equipment performance and safety. We executed precise troubleshooting and gas handling procedures to ensure reliable operation and compliance with industry standards.

Our key deliverables included:

  • Review of client equipment drawings

  • Troubleshooting using tools such as SF6 sniffers to identify leak points

  • Extraction of potentially contaminated SF6 gas

  • Review and replenishment with clean, dry SF6 gas

  • Gas certification

Inhouse Engineering Services

We provided inhouse project management and technical support in office base and site base work. Project management support included:

  • Project planning and scheduling

  • Risk management

  • Cost control

  • Quality assurance

  • Documentation and reporting

Our technical team also assisted with specialised engineering queries, offering timely in-house support to ensure issues were resolved efficiently and projects continued to progress smoothly.

Telemetry Skid Design and Construction

We designed and delivered a series of solar-powered telemetry skids equipped with Miri radios and PLCs, enabling real-time leak detection across the process water network. These systems provide reliable remote monitoring, improved operational visibility, and enhanced responsiveness to network performance issues.

A Year of Knowledge Shares

In 2025, our team fully embraced our culture of knowledge sharing, creating a dynamic environment where insights and expertise flowed seamlessly among team members. This commitment to learning and collaboration has not only strengthened individual skill sets but has also fostered a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and adaptability throughout the firm. Here are some of the standout knowledge-sharing sessions that defined our year:

Omicron 365 Secondary Injection Workshop with Ramon Santos

Our team sat in on a workshop to review the functionalities of Test Universe as well as the development of a test plan. The workshop included an overview of the QuickCMC, Overcurrent and Pulse Ramping modules. The workshop was finished off with a hands-on demonstration on the procedure to rest an overcurrent relay.

DC Arc Flash Study by Ahsan Zaka and Tej Sapkota

We engaged in an insightful session on DC Arc Fash studies lead by Ahsan Zaka and Tej Sapkota. The session was kicked off with a refresher on DC and AC arcs including calculations and PPE requirements. We finished off the session with a detailed demonstration of arc flash analysis studies on a solar farm in South Australia.

Electrical Workers Competency and Safety by Bradley Edwards

Our team listened in on a knowledge share session highlighting the importance of continuous learning to ensure the highest standard of electrical safety. During the session we reviewed our Safe Work Electrical Procedure, discussed regulations and acts governing electrical work, explored high voltage ranges and associated risks and analysed real world electrical incidents that have occurred in the mining industry.

A Year of Team Culture and Celebrations

Over the past year, Divergent Engineering has cultivated a vibrant and cohesive team culture through a range of engaging events and activities. From immersive team-building workshops to enjoyable social gatherings, we have placed a strong emphasis on fostering meaningful connections among our diverse group of professionals. These experiences have not only strengthened interpersonal relationships but have also nurtured an atmosphere of collaboration, innovation, and mutual support. Let us take a moment to share some of the key highlights from our team events in 2025:

Lunar New Year Dim Sum

To welcome the lunar new year and the year of the snake, our team enjoyed some team bonding over a generous spread of dim sum. The welcoming of the lunar new year was a great chance for our team top enjoy some tasty food and learn more about cultures that celebrate Lunar New Year.

Team Bowling at Strike

Our team had a fantastic time competing in bowling! The event was an opportunity to get moving and show off our bowling skills. The afternoon was filled with plenty of food and the crowned winner from each bowling alley competed in a final competition for the final crown.

Christmas Sundowner

We hosted our annual Christmas Sundowner. Celebrating another year with our team, friends, business connections, and all the wonderful individuals we have had the privilege of collaborating with!

Christmas BBQ and Pool

We all enjoyed a Christmas BBQ and Pool Table Tournament to finish off the year. The BBQ was filled with laughter, holiday cheer and plenty of perfectly cooked steak and seafood that left the team satisfyingly full. It was a perfect way to reflect on the year and show gratitude for busy and successful year.
