A Year of Knowledge Shares
In 2024, our team wholeheartedly embraced our culture of knowledge sharing, creating a dynamic environment where insights and expertise flowed seamlessly among team members. This dedication to learning and collaboration has not only strengthened individual skill sets but has also fostered a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and adaptability across the firm. By prioritising knowledge sharing, we have equipped ourselves to tackle complex challenges and deliver impactful solutions for our clients. Here are some of the standout knowledge-sharing sessions that defined our year:
Variable Speed Drives with Edward Tsang
We participated in a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) presentation from our very own expert, Edward Tsang. We explored the different types of VSDs and their applications, important parameters, critical settings, drooping, as well as common errors.
Arc Flash Workshop with Harinath Selvarajulu
Our team recently leveled up their expertise in a hands-on Arc Flash Testing Workshop led by Hari. Hari walked us through the intricate details of arc flash testing, showcasing advanced techniques that emphasise electrical safety and control using the Omicron CMC 356 and Omicron ARC256x.
Lunch and Learn with APS Industrial
Our team had an exciting opportunity to learn about Siemens' new SIMOCODE product line, all while enjoying some delicious burritos and chips! APS provided a comprehensive overview of how the SIMOCODE motor starter protects motors from overloading and short circuits.
Step and Touch Potential and Grid Impedance Measurements with Harinath Selvarajulu
Hari led an awesome training session on Step/Touch Potential and Earth Grid Impedance Measurements at MEP Service. The presentation broke down the technical aspects and led to a demo where the MEP Service team tried out the equipment themselves.
Synchronous Machines with Edward Tsang
We explored the history, principle of operation, synchronous speeds, classification, and specific applications with Edward Tsang. Our team burst into a lively discussion about slip ring excitation and double excitation during the presentation.
Comms Basics with Kenny Kramara
Kenny invited us to his classroom to explore the Ethernet Layer Model. Kenny guided us through the fundamental layers, leaving us eager for deeper understanding.
MEN Link/NE Connection with Harinath Selvarajulu
Hari conducted a knowledge share session on designing an MEN system in an electrical installation, including an alternative (stand-by) supply compliant with Australian Standards.
A Year of Team Culture and Celebrations
Over the past year, Divergent Engineering has cultivated a vibrant and cohesive team culture through a range of engaging events and activities. From immersive team-building workshops to enjoyable social gatherings, we have placed a strong emphasis on fostering meaningful connections among our diverse group of professionals. These experiences have not only strengthened interpersonal relationships but have also nurtured an atmosphere of collaboration, innovation, and mutual support. Let us take a moment to share some of the key highlights from our team events in 2024:
Women in Engineering
We celebrated International Women in Engineering Day by recognising our Divergent Women in Engineering representatives, Urusha Shrestha and Shannon Oo, and attending the Engineers Australia Women in Engineering event.
World Environment Day
We acknowledged World Environment Day by each adopting a small plant, which we call our Green Desk Buddy, to remind us of our commitment to sustainability and our role in nurturing a healthier planet.
Team Coffee Dates
We grabbed coffee as a team in the mornings as a fun way to discuss our projects and talk about hobbies and travel. This helped us collaborate more cohesively.
Christmas Sundowner
We hosted our annual Christmas Sundowner. Celebrating another year with our team, friends, business connections, and all the wonderful individuals we have had the privilege of collaborating with!
Christmas Secret Santa and Lunch
We all participated in Secret Santa and enjoyed a festive Christmas lunch, filled with laughter, joy, and plenty of holiday cheer. It was a perfect way to reflect on the year gone by and show gratitude for a successful year.
